Why am I having trouble with my book?

Problems with books

Sometimes, the books we receive from publishers contain errors, like typos or missing sections. If you notice any problems with a book you bought from Kobo, please email us at help@kobobooks.com and provide as many details as possible.

"Oops, file cannot be opened..." error

If you received this message when trying to open a book on your Kobo Mini, follow these steps:

  1. Reinstall Kobo Desktop.
  2. Perform a factory reset on your Kobo Mini.
  3. Connect your eReader to your computer using your USB cable to re-setup your Kobo Mini through Kobo Desktop.

On your computer:

  1. Launch Kobo Desktop. It should automatically start a setup wizard to help you configure your eReader.
  2. Click Get Started and follow the prompts.

Fixing a “Content Locked” error on your eReader

If you see a Content Locked error when trying to open a book on your eReader, you may have to sign out of your eReader, and sign back in.

To sign out of your eReader, from your Home page:

  1. Tap the http://kobo.intelliresponse.com/uploads/Kobo%20Trilogy/menu%20icon.png Menu icon at the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Account.
  4. Tap Sign Out.
    A confirmation screen will appear.
  5. Tap Sign out.

Once you’ve signed out, you’ll need to set up your eReader. After you’ve set up your eReader and signed in, tap  Sync to add your books back into your Library.
